The opposition must be a whole in the process of electing the President. This was stated by the leader of the Republican Party, Fatmir Mediu after the meeting with the leader of the SP parliamentary group Taulant Balla.
According to Mediu, the opposition must first field a joint candidate and then present it to the majority. Mediu does not believe that there will be candidates on Monday, when the first round will be held.
"Our position has been for the opposition to come out with its own figures. I hope we reach this opposition consensus. As an alliance for change, we have decided that we will make the proposals inside the opposition, outside the opposition, no position. I do not even share the re-establishment or what name you give it. All MPs must participate with a common candidate. I also spoke yesterday with Bylykbashi, Boc, Alibeaj, colleagues of the alliance for change group and this has been our position, we must have a common position for a candidate and then present it to the majority. "As I see it, there will be no candidate on Monday, " he said.
Mediu was also in the same line with Idrizi and spoke out against the idea that the president should not be a political figure.
"It is absurd for politics to exclude politics, but I believe we can not narrow it down to a certain profile. We need to be broad in areas of change. "Our position was that we will have an agreement with the opposition to reach an agreement with the majority" , said Fatmir Mediu.
