While Belinda Balluku has been at the Prime Minister's Office for over four hours in a meeting with Prime Minister Edi Rama, the Opportunity Party has organized a protest, demanding her resignation.
This development comes after the Special Court's decision to suspend Balluk from her position as Deputy Prime Minister and block her passport to prevent her from traveling abroad.
The leader of the Opportunity Party, Agron Shehaj, declared to the protesters:
"Albania is at a historic moment. The corrupt are locked in their offices and are making plans to escape justice. After Veliaj and Ahmetaj, now it's Balluku's turn. She is the acting deputy prime minister and they can't let her go, because after her they go straight to Edi Rama. They are surrounded by justice! They thought they would use justice as a tool, but now its day has come even in suffering Albania. Thanks to SPAK and the justice reform, these people will go to prison. The time has come for Albanians to look to the future and build a new Albania - where everyone lives honestly and no one has to rely on corrupt prime ministers and MPs," he said.
According to reports, the measures come after an investigation related to the Tirana Ring Road and not the Llogara Tunnel, for which it is accused of irregularities with tenders.
