The Democratic Party sees the arrest of Tirana Mayor Erion Veliaj as proof of the "capture of SPAK" by Edi Rama's government.

Important voices from the DP, including Edi Paloka and Belind Këlliçi, allude that Veliaj's arrest was made today, "to suppress the news of the arrival of Trump's campaign manager in the DP."

"The shock caused by the arrival of President Trump's right-hand man, Chris LaCivita, led to Edi Rama's immediate and inevitable order for the arrest of Erion Veliaj," Këlliçi declared.

Apparently, the DP had planned to turn today into a celebration, and with as much media coverage as possible, the contract with Chris LaCivita, who led President Donald Trump's electoral campaign.

The news of Veliaj's arrest has certainly eclipsed this development from the DP, but their claim that this happened intentionally has caused quite a bit of surprise among many commentators on social media.

This claim by Këlliç and Paloka has been reinforced with an official position by the DP through spokesperson Floriana Garo.

She said in a statement to the media that "Edi Rama ordered prosecutors to arrest Veliaj," after being scared by Chris LaCivita's arrival in Albania.
