The arrest of Erion Veliaj, Sali Berisha's reaction is coming!
Sali Berisha/Erion Veliaj

The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha , has reacted for the first time after the arrest of the mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj , today.

As he was leaving the DP headquarters, when asked about the incident, Berisha said that this shows that the crime pyramid is collapsing.

"The crime pyramid is collapsing," Berisha said when asked by journalists about Veliaj's arrest.

Veliaj was arrested by order of SPAK on 4 charges ( abuse of office, active corruption, passive corruption, failure to declare assets and money laundering ) and the mayor was placed under the security measure of 'prison arrest' until a decision is made by the GJKKO.

It is also learned that the Court has approved the security measure "house arrest" for Veliaj's wife, Ajola Xoxaj.

We recall that officials of the National Bureau of Investigation have conducted several inspections of the business premises of Veliaj's wife, Ajola Xoxa, and his brother, Arbi Veliaj.
