Details of the meeting held in Shkodër this Saturday between Prime Minister Edi Rama and the mayors have been disclosed.
Top Channel journalist Muhamed Veliu reports that the first issue addressed by the prime minister was that of applications from municipalities to EU funds.
For this, the prime minister requested cooperation between the municipalities and the Ministry of Local Government headed by Arbian Mazniku.
He emphasized that the support in this process from the central government will be unsparing, but it depends on the performance of the municipalities.
"Whoever performs better will have support from the Ministry of Finance when distributing the unconditional grant. So there will be a different difference for those municipalities that have better performance compared to those with problems and in debt to third parties", Prime Minister Edi Rama is quoted as saying.
As a second issue, Prime Minister Edi Rama has focused on the human resources that work in all the country's municipalities.
It has engaged in the review of salaries, aligning them with those of those working in the central government, as there is a very large disparity.
Prime Minister Rama is quoted as saying that our aim is to unify local government salaries with those in the central government.
This disparity in wages can also be seen when comparing employees from one municipality to another.
For example, if an engineer employed in Durrës Municipality is paid 80,000 ALL, an engineer employed in Fushë Krujë Municipality is paid 40,000 ALL.
This salary level is creating gaps and the impossibility of recruiting employees in all municipalities of the country, TCH reports.
