Prime Minister Edi Rama has set a condition for socialist mayors that a chance to run again to lead municipalities in the 2027 local elections will depend on the target that the government will set for the mountains package.

Rama said that by the end of the third mandate, the way should be opened for 1 thousand investments in 61 municipalities through the mountains package. Rama said that each municipality will be a target according to the size of the potential, for example up to 5, 10 or 15 investments. He criticized the mayors again for not yet defining the maps of the priority areas, saying that they are not doing science.
