The Prime Minister of Hungary, Viktor Orban, has called the separation of North Macedonia from Albania, in the process of integration into the European Union, as a "historical mistake", as our country prepares to open the first chapter of negotiations in a short time.
Orban said during a meeting in Ohrid with his counterpart Hristijan Mickoski, that this decision is "a violation of the pride of North Macedonia" and that, according to him, "opens a wound for the country".
Orban has also called as a mistake, the haste that Albania is showing to become part of the EU.
"Hungary, as president of the European Union, is ready to help in the dispute with Bulgaria and mediate between the two countries. It is difficult to understand why Albania is singled out. It is difficult for a nation to understand this.
I want to emphasize that national pride is the most important thing for a nation and the decision of the EU is precisely a violation of national pride in North Macedonia. It creates wounds, it is a big mistake that you are not a member of the EU and it is a mistake that Albania is in a hurry. You must open negotiations with the EU by the end of the year," said the Hungarian Prime Minister at the press conference.
