Former Prime Minister Sali Berisha, during a conversation with his followers on social networks, spoke about the situation in the official Democratic Party, which has opened a process for the election of a new president.
Berisha considered it as a process started by Edi Rama with his two hostages, referring to Lulzim Basha and Enkelejd Alibeaj. Further, he added that he will implement the statute and go to vote of confidence after the defeat in the local elections on May 14 and that he does not deal with Rama's two hostages.
He also called for the opening of the DP, which welcomes everyone and guarantees that their voice will be heard.
"The major problems in the DP were caused by the kicking of the statute. I am sworn and determined to strictly implement the statute, which gives power to the member of the DP. If the mayor loses the local elections, and I call it a loss since we did not win, although the elections are what they are, the statute determines my vote of confidence from the DP members. The analysis of these elections will be done in accordance with the DP statute. Of course, parallel to the democratic processes of the party, Edi Rama has set up a process with his two hostages. I can only say this: there is no force that frees the hostage from the hostage taker except the will of the hostage taker. I do not deal with hostages, I will deal with the hostage taker Edi Rama.
It is with great pleasure that I welcome all its members to the DP and in this context I guarantee that their voice will be heard, their proposals will be considered and there is no obstacle for us to make the best solutions through status procedures.
It is important to have the will and sense of responsibility that every democrat has for the opening and consolidation of the Democratic Party, not only towards its members, but towards its supporters and sympathizers," stated Berisha .
