Ina Majko failed to win a seat in Parliament in the May 11 elections, but Prime Minister Edi Rama had a backup plan for the candidate.
At today's meeting of the Council of Ministers, it was decided that Ina Majko be appointed to the position of Deputy Minister of Health and Social Protection.
Majko will replace Niko Hyka in this position.
During the campaign, Prime Minister Edi Rama promised that if she were not elected to Parliament, she would be part of the government.
Majko ran as an open-list deputy for the Socialist Party in the Vlora district. She applied for the legislative race through the Socialist platform "The Deputy We Want," a platform that brought several new names to the pink ranks.
Majko was prepared to be a voice in Parliament for the Roma and Egyptian communities, but did not win enough votes to be part of the Assembly.
