"We need a total reform of the electoral system, which has given Edi Rama power at the table. We ask the entire opposition spectrum to distance themselves completely from Edi Rama and the recent agreement they made on the Electoral Code. We need a new Electoral Code that brings justice to the rightful owner, which means that the vote is equally valid throughout the country."
We have said a great opposition unity in the square beyond the leaders and beyond the party flags. If you read the points, one of the points is that the forum will not be represented by the party leaders, which means that in the great civic agreement we aim to be through citizens of the different political spectrum, of the democrats, Albania Becomes, of all movements, of civil society. So, the emphasis should be on the Popular Union because the need is common. Not on the leaders. We are not making an agreement with Sali Berisha. We are imposing as much as we can a civic unity in the face of Edi Rama, because the need to remove Edi Rama is immediate. We think that the country needs a great unity of citizens. No one can hold the people hostage and those who really want change must understand their place and take a step back. In this regard, the popular unity should be for the need that already exists. We are not talking about an election campaign or the next elections. We are talking about these people stealing the country today and they must leave today. They must leave thanks to a great popular unity, beyond the needs or worries of the party leaders. In this regard, you must understand something that is very simple. I have never hidden it and this is a public fact. Albania is in this situation today because of the 2008 agreement to amend the Constitution, which was made between Edi Rama and Sali Berisha. It is necessary for the Democratic Party and the entire opposition to distance themselves from Edi Rama and to position themselves on the side of the democratization of the country”, said Lapaj at the start of the protest.
