The European Union Delegation in Tirana stated today that it is closely following the situation regarding Focus Media Group and its media outlets.

"Disputes between all parties involved must be resolved in full respect of legality and regular legal procedures," the EU office in Tirana emphasizes, in a post on the official account on X.

"In this context, it is important that any action taken does not infringe on the ability of journalists to exercise their freedom to convey information and to preserve the confidentiality of their sources," the EU delegation adds.

The EU Office underlines that, " these are essential aspects of media freedom and pluralism, which are critical for guaranteeing the rule of law."

The intervention of the police and Kayo a few days ago in the premises of 'Media Focus Group' and 'Panorama Group' has brought the reaction of many media associations in the country.

But the Ministry of Economy has stated that regarding the media group's claims that it has a lease contract until 2033, it actually has a debt of 2 million euros accumulated since 2017 for non-payment of the facility's rent.
