The chairman of the Freedom Party, Ilir Meta, said today that honest businesses in Durrës and throughout Albania are suffering, while the government, according to him, invents strategic investors who take the country's public assets.

According to former President Meta, the project for the Port of Durrës is an affair, calling on citizens to be careful.

"You know how much honest entrepreneurs are suffering in Durrës and all of Albania and see how suddenly strategic investors are invented by taking the best public assets and thanks to selective, favorable decisions to the detriment of competition by the government and the prime minister.

We have what I would call the port affair, an affair that has been opposed by the public because of transparency, but also by the EU because it contradicts the stabilization-association agreement. This agreement makes it CLEAR that all such agreements must be made on the basis of competition and not the elimination of competition.

Here we are dealing with a very clear affair, with an arrogance and brutality that does not benefit the citizens of Durres nor the economy of Durres. I invite the citizens to be careful", said Meta.

During the meeting with the structures in the city of Durrës, Meta directed accusations against the government, which according to him, was pressured by mafia groups in the last elections.

According to Meta, they want to keep Durrës under the rule of fear and drugs, while he emphasized that this city is the second victim of corruption and concretization after Tirana.

"In the last elections, Durrës experienced, like other areas in Albania, like Elbasan perhaps, an extraordinary pressure from the government mafia and all other mafia groups, which want to keep Albania, but especially Durrës, under their power intimidation, corruption, drugs, we all witness the successful import of bananas. Durrës, which is the second biggest victim of corruption, concretization, and money laundering, after Tirana, has many reasons, not only to react and wake up the citizens, to maintain the intensity, to protect the community, the family and the values ​​of her, but also the future, because it is a city that has suffered", said Meta.
