"McGonigal", Escobar: It does not affect Albania-USA relations.
Gabriel Escobar

The envoy of the United States for the Western Balkans, Gabriel Escobar, has spoken for the first time about the McGonigal case, stating that Albania-US relations have not been violated. He said this is a matter for the FBI.

"Albania is a NATO ally and part of the Security Council. The McGonigal issue has not damaged our good relationship with Albania at all. Albania has helped us a lot throughout the Security Council. However, I don't want to comment too much on McGonigal as it is a matter for the FBI," said Escobar in a virtual conversation with reporters.

The senior US official has also stated that the US State Department is not part of the investigations launched against the former head of the FBI's Counterintelligence Department.
