In an appearance for journalists in the courtyard of the Assembly, Sali Berisha emphasized once again the necessity of setting up the Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry on the McGonigal case.
The head of the democrats declared that in addition to the facts made public so far, other corrupt actions were carried out, such as the granting of oil licenses or the fining of Albanian businessmen.
"Rama spoke as if nothing had happened. He wants or thinks that this issue will end with empty rhetoric. The creation of the parliamentary investigative commission is fundamental. Their activity in Tirana should be extensively investigated."
Asked about the Russian money that Prime Minister Rama reminded the opposition during the motion in Parliament, the chief democrat emphasized that despite all the facts, the head of the government and the international factor did everything to keep the former president in the PD.
"Russian money? Rama shows what training he has. He accused Basha and sent him to the prosecutor's office for money laundering and closed the files according to Albanian laws. For that act, Basha had to be punished for 6 years. There are no allegations in the file about Russian money. How is it possible that Kim did everything to keep Lulzim Basha in DP? Everything was done so that Basha remained at the head of the DP, only for the interests of Edi Rama."
As for tomorrow's protest, the leader of the opposition said that it will be grand as he emphasized that it has nothing to do with the decision that is expected to be taken by the Court on the DP seal issue.
"The protest has nothing to do with it. I cannot prejudge a decision that there is no single legal basis to declare a party who is not a party," added Berisha.
