The Special Commission against Disinformation has been convened for the first time. The Democratic Party did not participate. The commission will be headed by Erion Braçe.
" We will take the best examples from the EU and the US. The opposition must be an important part of this fight. My colleagues and I have all given enough time for the opposition to become familiar with the phenomenon and accept it. To fade any kind of prejudice, the object of the work will not be the individual.
Each individual has his own space supported by the law. The object of this commission's work is the national interest and national security. This battle does not take place without the media, the media has two contributory and supervisory statuses of the work of this commission", Braçe said.
The Special Commission on Disinformation will operate for a 1-year time frame, and aims to promote the identification of foreign interference in democratic processes starting from disinformation campaigns through traditional and social media, direct and indirect financial support as well as the malicious economic influence of public actors and the undermining of civil society activity.
The establishment of the Commission came as a proposal of the Socialists with the signatures of 7 deputies, a request that according to them follows the same line as the Western countries and the European Parliament in the fight against misinformation and interference from foreign countries.
At the end of the 1-year work, the Commission will prepare a report with analyses, findings and proposals for legal changes and administrative measures.
