The Greek ambassador in Albania has reacted after the decision of the Appeal of GJKKO for the prison sentence of Fredi Beleri.

Konstatina Kamitsi expressed her disappointment in a statement to the media, after leaving SPAK.

"Unfortunately, many aspects of this case raise questions regarding the objectivity of the process, such as the issue of violation of the presumption of innocence, prolonged detention, disproportionate punishment and the denial of the right to swear.

"With all the desire of the people of Himara, as expressed through the election process, the municipality is still run today by people who were not elected by the voters," said Konstatina Kamitsi.

The Court of Special Appeal decided to uphold Fredi Beler's decision. He was sentenced to two years in prison, while GJKKO upheld the same decision. The same was decided for Pandeli Kokaveshi, who was sentenced to three years of probation.

This relief measure for Kokavesh was given as he has health problems, as well as his minor child has health problems.

The elected mayor of Himara, Fredi Beleri, was found guilty of vote-buying and was previously sentenced to two years in prison by the Special Court for Corruption and Organized Crime.
