Democrats say they were not surprised by the Government's decision to legalize cannabis for medical use.
For the opposition, this step is part of a political project started in 2013 with the arrival of the socialists in power.

The legalization behind cannabis is the last nail in the coffin of the Republic. The conclusion of the infamous cannabis experiment, which took many, many lives in the fight for traffic territories, which drove many young people away from schools and many others from Albania, is a sign that Edi Rama stops at nothing in the consolidation in Albania of the first and only narco-state in Europe," General Secretary Flamur Noka declared on Friday.

It is no coincidence, according to the Democrats, that this decision comes a few weeks after the May 14 elections, considered by them to be an electoral farce.

"The decision, which comes immediately after the elections, proves what the Democratic Party says loudly every day: there was no election, but a farce. This farce has been made possible by the government in close cooperation with drug gangs. Legalization is the tax that Rama paid to the gangs for the stolen elections. Albania does not have such a state that enables, neither the expertise for such ventures, nor the bureaucracy that controls it," explained Noka.

For this, he said that the Democratic Party strongly condemns this next step, which it considers towards madness and the destruction of the state.

"The legalization of cannabis is nothing more than the legalization of a criminal sector in which the government has been engaged from the beginning. The drug barons will now be legitimized and, from the cannabis industry, they will move to pharmaceuticals, and then to politics. This draft law is nothing but an attempt to Tom-Dose the Albanian politics."

Noka also had a call for the colleagues of the majority, reminding them that they must decide whether they will remain in history as socialists or cannabisists.
