Prime Minister Edi Rama in a press conference together with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban expressed his gratitude to the Hungarian government and the support it has given to Albania for EU integration.
Rama also focused on Hungarian investments in Tirana, where he emphasized that he would like to see more.
It is the visit of an old and steadfast friend of Albania and Albanians at all times. Thanks to Prime Minister Orban and the commitment of the foreign minister and his government, we have entered a new phase of traditional and friendly relations, but now also economic ones. This visit, in addition to the visit of a precious friend, is also a visit to continue on that new path of cooperation that opened a new phase after the visit of our delegation there, where several milestones were set on which we are continuing to cooperate and thanks of which we are seeing tangible results.
Hungary is one of the most vocal advocates of the Western Balkans in the EU and one of the most progressive forces in relation to EU enlargement. Hungary has consistently defended Albania's EU integration process. This support has not only been in words but with expertise made available to our government. We share the same conviction with the prime minister and the government of Hungary regarding the high geostrategic interest of the integration of the Western Balkans as soon as possible.
The EU needs the Western Balkans as the Western Balkans need the EU. I am grateful for the fact that Orban is the main driver of Hungarian direct investment in Albania. We want to have more companies. We talked about bringing more investments from Hungary in the field of energy and I hope very much also in the field of tourism. We strongly believe that it is time to think about investments from Hungary, which today has an industry of excellence in tourism.' - said Rama.
