"I am endangered by criminals in prison", Saimir Tahiri accepts the sentence of 3 years and 4 months in prison given by the GJKKO for abuse of office, making a request to the Supreme Court to suspend the decision.

In your request, Tahiri states that the immediate serving of a prison sentence can have serious consequences for the defendant himself and his family. This is due to the duty he has held and he risks and can become the object of crime characters who are serving their sentences in the Fier Penitentiary Institution. The recourse further states that his family is also exposed to possible consequences.

"Submitting that in the present case the immediate serving of the imprisonment sentence of the defendant Saimir Tahiri, could bring serious consequences for the defendant himself and his family. Thus, Mr. Tahiri has held the position of former Minister of Interior of the Republic of Albania, he risks and may become the object of crime characters who are serving their sentences in the Fier Penitentiary Institution. On the other hand, his family is also exposed to possible consequences. From the attached recourse it is clear that the decision no.03, dated 04.03.2022 of the Special Court of Appeal is a decision taken in flagrant violation of the law regarding the due process of law and the continuation of its execution seriously affects not only the interests of the convict Saimir Tahiri, but also of justice.", It is said in the request of Saimir Tahiri.
