Senior US official visits Albania: Messages to deliver in Tirana

Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs at the US Department of State, Dr. Karen Donfried will visit Albania on April 28.

The news was confirmed by US Ambassador Yuri Kim, who also clarified the agenda.

Kim says the American diplomat will visit Albania in the framework of the 100th anniversary of bilateral relations.

"On April 28, she will commemorate the 100th anniversary of US-Albanian diplomatic relations and thank Albania for our partnership in the United Nations Security Council and for its commitment to Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity in the face of Russian aggression.

It will also underline our strong support for Albania's EU membership and regional economic integration, as well as stress the need to fully implement justice reform and fight corruption.

The American official will start a tour in the Western Balkans (April 25 to April 29), while she will visit not only Albania, but also Kosovo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Northern Macedonia and Serbia.
