The Democratic Party has summoned the Minister of Interior, Besfort Lamallari , for an interpellation .

Democratic MP  Klevis Balliu said that incriminating crime in the ranks of the blue uniforms is not a political accusation, adding that this violates national security.

Balliu brought up the case of the former agent involved in drug trafficking, or the AMP agent who was in the car with Gilmando Dani at the time of the mafia assassination in Rinas.

Balliu said that incriminating the state police is this government's policy.

“The criminalization of the police is not a political accusation, but a fact recognized not only by the Albanian public opinion but also by international partners. Here, not only an institution is violated, but the security of every citizen and national security. The European Commission’s Enlargement Report for Albania for 2025 emphasizes that: “Despite the efforts undertaken, the State Police continues to be deeply exposed to corruption. The process of transitional and periodic evaluation of police officers (“police vetting”), as well as the integrity verification process have continued, but their impact remains limited. Cases of intimidation and threats against journalists have also become more visible, including cases where senior state officials or police officers have been involved, especially against investigative journalists and women journalists. You have the case of Oltion Bistri, yes Henrigert Mitri, they clearly show how individuals at high levels of the police show that not only have they been involved in drug trafficking, they have facilitated the criminal acts of organizations, such as the case of Pëllumb Gjoka. These criminals and these individuals together with many other actors, for example Gilmando Dani, a high segment of organized crime, next to him was an AMP officer, he was himself in the car with Gilmando Dani. This is not the only thing that shows the implication. It is impossible to carry out an assassination at the airport, where it is protected by the country's greatest security, the police, the army, every time you have security only on the day of the assassination, not. The incrimination of the state police is the policy of this government and the guarantee of this government with the crime to continue their businesses. It is this government that today cannot give security to any Albanian citizen", said Balliu.

The accusations were rejected by Interior Minister Besfort Lamallari, who said that the State Police has no reason to become part of political narratives and mudslinging.

The Minister underlined that there is still much work to be done and that progress against crime and corruption has been steady. Lamallari said that we have a 50% reduction in murders.

"The State Police is an organization of men, women, boys and girls, who face difficult work, on the front line of crime and lawlessness. We must be careful when using the politics of mud towards an organization of the Albanian state. It does not mean that there are no problems, there are, there are cases of violations, there are individuals who have violated the police uniform, but the difference between a weak and a strong state lies here, one hides the problems and the other addresses them with concrete measures. I will make a careful quote from international reports. An interesting data comes from public security, we have a 50% reduction in murders, a very worrying crime. Regarding the international community, Albania has been positively evaluated by international reports, but I want to emphasize the fact that we have 38% more joint investigation teams and these have been made possible thanks to operations with EUROPOL. The State Police does not have to become part of political narratives, it has a legal obligation to serve the country and citizens unaffected by accusations and mud that includes everyone, big and small. "Small, we saw it yesterday with the election of the new director of the state police," said Lamallari.

In response, Balliu said that the State Police is uncovering the operations and has 270 unexecuted arrest warrants.
