Prime Minister Edi Rama , in a meeting with the tax structures for the presentation of the plan for the fight against informality, has stated that the real salaries in our country are " 600 euros for sanitation and over 1100 euros average salary for other sectors ", but these salaries are not declared. from businesses.
"These are the real salaries for the relevant sectors, in all services of this nature in Tirana and slightly lower in other areas. But when it comes to declaring wages, the picture is completely different. We are the only country in the region that has a small business with 0 taxes. As for curiosity, there is no other country in the world, I believe, where only 10% of businesses pay income tax. 90% are freed from the tax-profit burden, as a result of a strategy and decision-making by our government for years now, that we have decided to leave small business tax-free until 2029. This is to give it breathing space to develop. But there is another even more extraordinary figure: in Albania only ¼ of businesses pay VAT. We lack the contribution of entrepreneurship to the budget that goes to pensions. How do we bring these two together? That we have given facilities to entrepreneurship, and entrepreneurship also steals pensioners... I'm sorry, the word is very heavy, but I don't know what else to call it. It's robbery because social security is the first liability, even before taxes. If Albania were to continue on the flat tax on the salary, we would have more income for social security as well, but we would take more out of the pocket of the employees. We got rid of the flat tax and made it progressive, and we've given up not a little, but a significant amount of what we've left to teachers, nurses, waiters, etc. How can we do it when for the 17 sectors of the economy there are 156,000 employees who are declared with a salary of 50,000 ALL because we all know that this salary is exempt from taxation. Looking at the sectors in turn, it makes no sense to accept this because they are false wages. However, from this lie and from this criminal approach to pensioners, we have a very big hole, which we compensate for today, as we speak, by investing half a billion euros to supplement pensions, because without this half a billion, pensions cannot be given at the level they are today. It's easy to promise when you know you won't have anything in hand. The problem of pensions is not solved by good will alone. Increasing pensions is not solved by taking away from children who are minors today and need other investments. Taxes are for children, for the future, for schools, hospitals and infrastructure. Social security is for the elderly, they are two completely separate things and cannot be combined", added the Prime Minister.
Furthermore, he emphasized that entrepreneurs have another reason to pay social security.
"If we want to increase pensions, even if we increase them unilaterally, we cannot increase them enough if the other party, the entrepreneurs, is not involved. When you go to the door of the other world, where there are no credit cards and cash in hand, Saint Peter will come out and tell him what you have done. Even for this moment, what belongs to pensioners should not be discussed. They pray to Allah 5 times a day and they don't pay social insurance as they should", said Edi Rama.
