A day after a group of protesters published a platform with five demands addressed to the government and forwarded it to the diplomatic representations of Western countries in Albania, attention has shifted to the 13 people who signed the document on behalf of what they call the "Coordination Group" of the protests.
The document states that the demands are the product of discussions and proposals by the protest participants themselves.
However, no formal selection or voting process for these representatives has been made public so far.
For this reason, the group is considered self-proclaimed and it remains to be seen whether it will be accepted as representative by all the groups that participate every evening in the protests in front of the Prime Minister's Office.
The list of signatories includes various professional profiles and activists engaged in various causes.
Architect and urban planner Entela Koja runs her own consulting firm and is publicly engaged in urban planning, environmental and property protection issues. Her name has also appeared in public activities organized against what has been described as a violation of property rights.
One of the most well-known figures of the protests is Arben Kola, a tourist guide for more than a decade. Recognizable for his characteristic turban and the loudspeaker he carries at almost every civic gathering, he has become one of the most recognizable faces of non-partisan protests in Tirana. He has been engaged as an activist for environmental issues for years.
There is not much public information about Megan Balaj and Gjon Ndoj. Both have become known as part of the protest coordination group.
Edviol Kulluri presents himself as a writer, entrepreneur, governance and education expert, human rights activist, and founder of "The Leading Organization." On social media, he promotes what he calls the "Doctrine of Strength and Kindness," and has been active in organizing and leading protests.
One of the most well-known figures of local resistance is Luçjana Kokaj, who became a symbol of the protests of the residents of Rrjoll against the construction of a tourist resort. Her activism has also extended to other environmental causes, such as the protection of the Zvërnec area.
Among the signatories, Gentjan Progni, a computer engineer and IT expert, stands out. He has become known for his public denunciations of cybersecurity, personal data leaks, the functioning of state electronic systems, and electoral processes.
Progni is also the administrator of the "Transparenca" platform, which monitors changes and deletions of news in online media.
Etleva Merko is a teacher with many years of experience in public and private education.
She previously held the position of vice president of the "Albania Becomes" movement, from which she resigned after the elections, stating that she would continue her engagement as a civic activist.
Everest Bardhi, 19 years old from Mirdita, became known during the protests after publicly sharing the story of his father, a former nurse in the Tirana Emergency Room, turning him into one of the most emotional voices of the rallies.
Also on the list is Përparim Gjeka, an entrepreneur and international trade expert with business activities in China and Europe, where he runs companies in the fields of logistics and technology.
Mevlan Mata represents the Albanian diaspora in the United States. He has long been involved in the "Diaspora for a Free Albania" initiative and has stated that he returned to Albania specifically to join the protests.
Another name is Ilir Xhemalaj, founder and chairman of the National Union of Telephone Operators (SKOT), known for his union activism and participation in protests for workers' rights and other civic causes.
The list closes with Marjen Rama, an entrepreneur in the field of tourism and travel, engaged in the private sector for years.
The publication of this list marks the first time that organizers have publicly identified a leadership structure for the protests.
However, it remains to be seen how this will affect the continuation of the civic movement, as other individuals and groups are also participating in the protests that so far have not been represented in this group of signatories and have not publicly expressed their position regarding this representation.
