The Supreme Court has once again rejected the appeal of former President Ilir Meta to change the security measure of "prison arrest".

The leader of the PL has been in detention since October 2024.

Meta has been previously dismissed by all three levels of the judiciary for changing the security measure.

He argued that the legal conditions and criteria do not exist to keep him in detention and that the measure of 'prison arrest' is unjustified and disproportionate to the circumstances of the case.

The leader of the Freedom Party has also addressed the Constitutional Court regarding the security measure.

We recall that the former president has been sent to trial on charges of corruption, money laundering and failure to declare assets. SPAK's investigations were based on three issues: CEZ-DIA, LSI lobbying in the US and the asset investigation.
