The Supreme Court has upheld the decision of the GJKKO to terminate the investigation into the former head of the KED, Ardian Dvorani.
The Special Court decided to dismiss the case for the former head of the KED, Ardian Dvorani, on November 23, 2021, after the lawsuit of the president Ilir Meta. GJKKO accepted the request of the Special Prosecutor's Office.
But, after GJKKO decided to dismiss the case, former president Ilir Meta decided to appeal to the Supreme Court, while the latter upheld the decision of the Special Court Against Corruption and Organized Crime.
On February 18, 2020, the President of the Republic filed a lawsuit against Dvoran at SPAK.
Meta accused him of "abuse of duty" and "appropriation of the state title or office".
Meta clashed with Dvoran after different interpretations of the Constitution for the election of new members of the Constitutional Court. Meta, at that time the president claimed that the head of the KED had violated the Constitution by not respecting the order of appointments. Meanwhile, Dvorani and the parliamentary majority thought that Meta violated the Constitution by decreeing Marsida Xhaferllari as a judge, even though she had missed the 30-day deadline stipulated in the law.
