"Gërdeci", Mediu: SPAK did not investigate, it received the 2009

The former Minister of Defense, Fatmir Mediu, will have an ordinary trial in the Special Court for the "Gërdeci" file. At his request, the court canceled yesterday the decision for a shortened trial, while facing the former minister's request for the questioning of 90 witnesses. Among them, there were former high officials of the USA, Germany and Italy, NATO generals, as well as former Albanian ministers.

Invited today to the Breaking show on Top News, Mediu spoke about this very issue, after the moderator asked him about SPAK's response regarding his request to interrogate the 90 witnesses and to waive the summary trial.

" Then we clearly stated that we requested a summary trial because we wanted to judge the issue of the statute of limitations, as a right, signed in the criminal code and flagrantly violated by SPAK. And for how long it was not considered and it was said that it will be reviewed at the end of the court case with absolutely no sense and being not normal. There is or isn't a judicial process and that's why we asked to have a normal process to get to the truth to the end. And what is surprising is the attitude of the family members.

They seem to be more interested in a quick process than the truth.

This is 1 situation that seems clearly politically motivated with no intention of getting to the bottom of the truth.

Spak did not investigate, Spak took the 2009 file and forwarded it to the court without changing a single comma from the decision of those prosecutors, where some of them are no longer in operation in the general prosecution or other prosecutions, due to vetting process.

So, this is a completely absurd situation, because I think that SPAK would have a different level of quality to analyze the issues, even in their illegal action, which in my opinion it has not done", said Mediu.
