Ervin Salianji requests suspension of sentence, here's when it will be

On March 11, the Supreme Court will review the appeal filed by former Democratic MP Ervin Salianji, who is seeking the suspension of the Court of Appeal's decision, which sentenced him to one year in prison for false reporting related to the Babale case.

In the appeal letter, Salianji says that he opposes the decision of December 18, 2019 of the Criminal Court, but also the decision of September 26 of the General Jurisdiction Appeals Court.

Salianji was sentenced on December 18, 2019 to 1 year in prison in the first instance, while the accused as an accomplice for "false reporting", journalist Jetmir Olldashi, was sentenced to 6 months in prison, but the execution of this measure was suspended and the sentence was converted to 100 hours of community service.

Meanwhile, on September 26, the Court of Appeals decided to uphold the 1-year prison sentence for the criminal offense of false reporting for Democratic Party MP Ervin Salianji, while the latter called the trial rigged and himself a political convict.

Since September 26 of last year, Ervin Salianji has been in Fier prison serving his sentence.
