The Chairman of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, is in Berlin where he is participating in the 37th CDU congress. Former Prime Minister Berisha also met there with the CDU candidate in the German snap elections, Friedrich Merz.

"Today in Berlin, at the 37th CDU Congress. Victory Congress. A heartfelt handshake with the future Chancellor of Germany, the most powerful man in Europe, Friedrich Merz. 34 years ago, Chancellor Helmut Kohl would have been the first Prime Minister I would have met in Bonn! A white omen for the victory of the opposition," writes Berisha, who has also shared photos during the meeting with Merz.

Sali Berisha is in Berlin where he is participating in the CDU Electoral Congress, invited as a representative of the Albanian opposition. The delegation also includes MPs Tomor Alizoti and Albana Vokshi.

The congress brings together the leaders of the member parties of the European People's Party, which includes the Democratic Party of Albania. This convention comes a few weeks before the snap elections in Germany, where CDU candidate Friedrich Merz is seen as the winning contender for the position of chancellor in the February 23 elections.

During the morning, Berisha met with Jurgen Hart, foreign policy spokesperson for the CDU parliamentary group, and is also expected to meet with the CDU Secretary General.
