Former leader of the Democratic Party Lulzim Basha said today that the collapse of the National Theater two years ago remains an open wound in the heart of Tirana. In a post on his social media, Basha says the government toppled the TK code for no reason.
That square, according to him, is the dividing line between "those who want a democratic Albania and the rest that destroys one of the most expensive institutions of the nation."
Basha's post:
“ For two years now, the theater has been an open wound in the heart of Tirana. A wound that suffers from the irrationalities that caused it and that are the same as those that have held the country hostage for these 9 years: arrogance, corruption, clientelism, crime money and blind hostility to cultural heritage. "Today, that square, violently stripped of its history, is another dividing line between the citizens who want a democratic Albania and a minority that destroys, plunders, usurps one of the holiest institutions of the nation ",
Recall that the collapse of the National Theater was followed by a series of protests and clashes between citizens and activists and police forces while in the country a few months ago the first cases of coronavirus were confirmed. The opposition also sided with the protesters.
