The Democratic Party has called for another protest in front of the SPAK premises, as it is expected that Democratic leader Sali Berisha will appear again at the Special Prosecution Office premises.
The announcement distributed to the Democrats calls for protesters to gather again in front of SPAK at 9:30.
"Dear friends. Monday is the next date set for the appearance of the President of the DP, Prof. Dr. Sali Berisha, at SKAP. ..So at 9:30 am, everyone will protest again in front of SKAP as a tool in the hands of Rama to persecute political opponents. Thank you," the message distributed to the DP structures reads.
SPAK has previously appealed the decision to release former Prime Minister Sali Berisha from house arrest, requesting the reinstatement of this security measure. Berisha was released on November 27, 2024, after about a year under house arrest, due to accusations of involvement in the “Partizani” dossier.
The former prime minister has been charged with passive corruption, as SPAK accuses him of taking concrete actions in approving laws and bylaws that were tailored to the interests of the five families that own the "Partizani" sports complex. According to SPAK, Berisha's son-in-law, Jamarbër Malltezi, also benefited from these actions.
