Prime Minister Edi Rama, in an interview with the German magazine ZEITmagazin, also spoke about the proposal that came to him for Minister of Culture many years ago.

The chief socialist also told the conversation he had with his mother, saying that she asked him not to accept the post.

'The phone rang and the voice of the Prime Minister was heard: "Mr. Minister of Culture, do you want to stay or leave again?" – "I am staying," I answered. " Do you need some time to think?" he asked. "No," I replied, "because if I want to, I'll leave again!" It was as simple as that. When everyone left, I asked my mother: "Who do you think will be the Minister of Culture tomorrow?" She replied: "I don't care at all." When I asked her, "What if it's me, Mom?" she replied: "It's been a long day, you're tired, your sense of humor is broken – go to bed." But when he realized I was being serious, he started crying. My parents always wanted me to stay away from politics. "What's worse," she said through tears, "for your father to die, or for you to become a minister?"

I said, "What should I do now, Mom?" And she replied: "Go immediately to the Prime Minister's house and tell him that you are confused about your father's death – take the word back." I said it was a shame, I couldn't do it. "If you don't dare to resign now," she added, "you will remain trapped in this political mess for the rest of your life," he said.
