On World Press Freedom Day, Ambassador Yuri Kim hosted a group of journalists and representatives of NGOs working on media issues in Albania.

She emphasized that a free and independent press is essential for democracy and that it is important for journalists to ask difficult questions.

Ambassador Yuri Kim urged to pass on to the new generation of journalists the lessons they have received to be strong and courageous.

“I hope you will never underestimate the importance of what you are doing. I hope you will continue to do what you are doing," Ambassador Kim told reporters.

Participants discussed the challenges they face, including lack of access to information, job insecurity and lack of financial transparency from public institutions and media organizations.
