The Albanian ambassador in London, Qirjako Qirko, in an interview for Euronews Albania, shared the last conversation with Queen Elisabeth II.

Qirko said that the queen knew everything about our country, regional relations and goals.

Qirko said that Queen Elisabeth II, during the meeting, told him that Albania is developing at a fast pace and that it is certain that it will join the EU very soon.

"He made a special assessment of the achievements of our country in the last 30 years. He told me: Ambassador, the London you see today has developed over hundreds of years, when in such a short time we have achieved so much. I am sure that you will soon join the EU", said the ambassador.

"It was an unforgettable meeting. As I told you, the queen had extraordinary information, she knew everything about our country, regional relations and our country's aspirations to join the EU", said the ambassador.

He also told the joke with the queen about the number of women employed at the Albanian embassy in London.

"I had the opportunity to introduce the embassy staff to the queen. Regarding the gender balance, there were more women and he jokingly told me that 'you are very good in terms of gender balance', he continued.

Queen Elizabeth II passed away at the age of 96 and went down in history as the longest-lived British monarch. Elizabeth II was also the longest-serving queen of a country. She remained on the throne for 70 years, from 1952 when she took over after her father's death.
