The parliamentary group of the Democratic Party reviewed and approved the draft prepared by experts for the new territorial map. The only ones who did not participate in the meeting called by Alibeaj were the deputies who support Sali Berisha.

Unlike the current map, which divides Albania into 61 local units, the Democrats propose a new division with 92 municipalities. As the co-chair of the Commission, Dhurata Çupi, confirmed for ABC, the Democrats have proposed the addition of 31 new municipalities.

According to the PD proposal, Paskuqani joins Tirana Municipality and Zallherri joins Kamëz Municipality.

The Democrats also suggest that the addition of Maqellar, Kastriot and Lure municipalities to the Dibër district; Shpirag municipality in Berat district; Dukagjin and Velipoja Municipality in Shkodër District; Shpat Municipality and Bardashesh Municipality in Elbasan district; Milot, Orosh, Zadrimë and Bregu i Mata municipalities in Lezhë district; Levan, Dushk, Ardenicë and Fratër municipalities in Fier district; Shishtavec and Bicaj municipalities in Kukës district; The municipalities of Leskovik, Voskopoj, Drenovë, Pojani and Stravë in Korçë district; Orikum, Ksamil, Novosel and Kote municipalities in Vlora district.

Democrats also suggest the division of Albania into 6 regions, abandoning the concept of division into districts. The draft will be forwarded to the special territorial reform commission where the socialists are against increasing the number of municipalities.
