Italian 'witness' admits: I lied on 'Syri Tv' against Erion

At the end of March and beginning of April 2023, just a few days before the local elections, the show "Piranjat" on the Berisha family's television channel, Syri Tv, published two interviews that shocked public opinion. The protagonist: an Italian citizen, Gabriele Tarroni Longinotti, who claimed that the mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, had participated in the purchase of a failed incinerator, equipment that the company "Bruno Presezzi" SPA had taken from Romania for scrap, after previously being unable to sell it even in Zimbabwe.

“Piranjat” reported that Longinotti had met with Veliaj several times, once in Italy, at the offices of “Bruno Presezzi” SPA, once in Tirana, at “Cioccolati Italiani” and the “Tribe” restaurant. The story broke on the airwaves a few days before the vote.

For two years, "Piranhas" have been under criminal proceedings for defamation, following Veliaj's lawsuit in the Tirana Court. But the last week has given the case a complete turnaround.

Veliaj's lawyers filed a notarial statement on Monday, dated September 24, 2025, signed in Modena before notary Rosa Chiarini, where Gabriele Tarroni Longinotti himself denies every accusation he had made two years ago. "Everything was slander for money," Longinotti declares, and after the false testimony broadcast on the show "Piranjat," the 2-year-old protests in front of Tirana City Hall began.

In the notarial document, Longinotti admits that:

(1) I have never seen Mr. Erion Veliaj travel, alone or in the presence of other people, to Italy or meet anyone, much less have the purpose of such a visit been related to the incinerator;

(2) I have never met Mr. Erion Veliaj, neither personally nor in the presence of other persons, neither in Italy nor in Albania near “Cioccolati Italiani” or “Tribe”, nor have I ever communicated with him, personally or through others, through phone calls, messages or any other form of communication;

(3) I have neither knowledge nor evidence that Mr. Erion Veliaj participated or was involved in the purchase of the incinerator we had in Romania;

(4) All statements I have made about Mr. Erion Veliaj, in my interviews for the program "Piranjat", as well as those I have implied, are untrue and were made by me in exchange for promises from these television media outlets and persons close to them for financial benefits.

Deja-vu “Nesti Angoni 2”

The publication of the interviews in April 2023, just days before the local elections, could not have been a coincidence. Veliaj won a third term with a record margin of about 60,000 votes.

Today, with Longinotti's admission, this event is proven to be a genuine staged event, reminiscent of the "anonymous letter of Nesti Angoni", on which the Special Prosecution began investigations against Veliaj and still keeps him in solitary confinement. If the first Nesti Angoni - Longinotti scenario failed, it seems that a second plan was put into play: an anonymous letter, with a fictitious name and forged signature, to give life to another political blow.

Just as the frauds of Gabriele Longinotti and the masterminds of the second "Nesti Angoni" were revealed, it is equally inevitable that the scenario behind the anonymous and falsified criminal report of "Nesti Angoni 1" will be revealed. Justice and time will bring to light all the masterminds of this new slander factory, proving that Veliaj was the victim of a well-organized plan for political elimination, before and after his 3rd re-election.
