Chargé d'Affaires at the American Embassy, Nancy VanHorn, met today with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Elisa Spiropali.
VanHorn also sent a message after the meeting, where the US Embassy's post on social media seems to echo the concerns raised a few days ago by the State Department's report on Albania.
As the US State Department report emphasized, the business climate in Albania is unfavorable due to corruption and unfair competition from criminal groups, the US Embassy's message reiterates this.
“NATO’s committed Allies are ensuring they are prepared to meet the new challenges of our time – including sustainable defense spending for long-term security, close cooperation to combat international criminal organizations, and fair economic conditions that allow businesses to thrive. Chargé d’Affaires Nancy VanHorn held a conversation with Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Elisa Spiropali, in her new role, following the high-level week of the 80th UN General Assembly,” the US Embassy in Tirana said in a statement.
