Former Prime Minister Sali Berisha has publicly attacked President Bajram Begaj for the first time. And he did this in order to favor Greek Prime Minister Kyrkiakos Mitsotakis.

The reason for Berisha's attack was the refusal of the head of state to the invitation of the Prime Minister of Greece, Kyrkiakos Mitsotakis, to participate in the informal meeting for the 20th anniversary of the Thessaloniki Summit.

In a reaction on social networks, Berisha describes Begaj's action as thoughtless and, according to him, influenced by Prime Minister Edi Rama.

"With this act, Mr. Begaj between the European interests of the Albanians and the personal anti-European mafia interests of Edi Rama, chose Edi Rama. He undertook to boycott the summit and refused the invitation. The president's reaction is thoughtless and does not represent the European opinion and interests of the citizens and the political forces of the country nor the obligations for a good neighborliness, but strictly the opinion of Edi Rama and the mafia interests of the latter. Furthermore, Berisha emphasizes that the opposition candidate elected winner on May 14, Fredi Belerin, has no law that prohibits him from taking the oath as the mayor of Himara.

"There is no article in the laws of the country that prevents Fredi Beleri from taking the oath as the elected mayor of the Himarë Municipality with the vote of the citizens, and for this there is a precedent from several years ago. Edi Rama's claim that in Beleri's case he is respecting the decisions of the courts of the three levels of sadush and sadush is just a fig leaf and the discredit of the judicial system controlled by him. Courts cannot write the laws of the land but must apply them impartially.
