Berisha after the approval of the CDI resolution: In Albania, cartels dictate

DP leader Sali Berisha thanked the CDI for approving the resolution on the situation in Albania, stating that the country has become the only narco-state in Europe. He said that Albania is the main exporter of cannabis on the continent, while Albanian cocaine clans dominate the European market.

Berisha accused the Rama government of links to drug cartels and their influence on political, judicial and police appointments. He stressed that the economy is collapsing while construction is being inflated by dirty money, and that over 1 million Albanians have left the country in the last 10 years.

He expressed his gratitude for the resolution and emphasized that the DP will continue the battle to denounce this situation until European partners take the threat seriously.

Speech by the President of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, after the adoption of the resolution by the CDI:

Once again, thank you very much Mr. President. I would like to thank the CDI as the first international organization to adopt a very useful and serious resolution on Albania as the first and only narco-state in Europe. Since then, Mr. President, further developments have proven that the situation has deteriorated and has become a real threat, not only to my nation, but also to the security of the region and beyond.
Today, Albania is the number one exporter, exporter of marijuana to Europe. It is now the drug of Albania, the Albanian cocaine clans that dominate the cocaine market in Europe and dictate cocaine prices throughout Europe.
If you look at our economy, it has been terribly damaged by such drug billionaires.
This is industrial production, agricultural production and exports that are failing year after year. While there is one sector that is flourishing more and more, and this is construction.
The construction index in Albania is three times higher than the average EU index. The government is strongly connected to the cartels and Albanian drug lords. The government is already proven. The Prime Minister personally received the top leaders of the Mexican Sinaloa, who are 4 Albanian brothers. He sent a special charter from Tirana to Aruba for a special meeting with the Albanian drug lords in Latin America. Now, all this effect of this terrible toxic money for my country is destroying the country. In 10 years, for the EU area alone 1,099,000 Albanians left the country, not counting those who left for regions of the world.
Secondly, drugs and drug distributors appoint ministers, MPs appoint judges, police directors. But what are the biggest difficulties for us as the opposition?
In Europe, no one will listen to us talk about the narco-state. This is a big problem. We do it for the sake of our nation, but we also do it for the sake of other nations. And I believe it is evident, they do not speak. On the contrary, sometimes they attack us because we talk about the narco-state. Anyone who reads and watches, Albania meets all the criteria for being a narco-state. The very fact that Albania is destroyed by the elections is a complete part of Mr. President, Secretary General of the CDI, old friend Isturiz and other people of the CDI came to our elections. They saw what the popular support was, but the problem is that the drug cartels are stronger than any party and they dictate the results.
Here we are today.
We are grateful for the vote on this resolution, despite our difficulties. I assure you that we will fight against this terrible situation in my country in the hope that one day the European institutions, the European partners will understand that drugs are a major threat to the security of their nations.
