The government filed an official request with the Constitutional Court this Friday regarding the suspension of Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku from office.

This request comes after the GJKKO's decision to impose a restraining order against her, a decision that the government considers to be in conflict with its powers.

From the request clarified by the Constitutional Court, the Prime Minister's Office argues that a conflict of competences has been created between the Prime Minister and the Council of Ministers, on the one hand, and the Special Court against Corruption and Organized Crime, on the other hand, regarding the right to suspend a member of the government cabinet.

In the submitted request, the government requests the Constitutional Court:

Annulment of decision no. 118, dated 19.11.2025, of the GJKKO, for the part imposing the prohibitory measure against Belinda Balluku;

Immediate suspension of this decision, pending the completion of the review by the Constitutional Court;

Interpretation of Article 103, paragraph 3, of the Constitution, relating to the procedures and authority for the suspension of members of the government.
