Former Prime Minister Sali Berisha has harshly attacked former US State Department head Antony Blinken.
He said on the "Top Story" show that he was widely known as one of the most pro-Americans in the country, as he accused Blinken of targeting him during the previous US administration.
"I will confess something that I have never said, in Sali Berisha you have a person outside this picture, a person who grew up, was formed by people who fought not one, two, 10, but 40 years, people who, despite all these efforts, did not win any war, but never stopped fighting, he participated in every effort from 1909, he had a rifle up to 45, he had not won a single battle, it was always a fight with very large enemies, but what was specific about that man, he had not left his weapon aside, this is my entire legacy.
If they ask me for a position, I am there, I cannot be different, because I have never confessed this, I am confessing it tonight, he attacked me in a very unfair, dishonest way, he attacked me as an enemy at a time when we as Albanians have the cult of the friend and we have it very well, a friend comes out and hunts you as an enemy, but he found me in a position, I say this... I have never said that, that this is the greatest truth of Sali Berisha, the one from whom I was inspired had lost every battle, but did not hesitate to participate in the battle. I had made friends, I had been labeled in Europe as too pro-American, not unconsciously and now he was coming out for lobbying and corruption, Antony Blinken proved to be an unworthy official and I hope that American justice will show him the place for the deception he has done to the American people", Berisha said.
