The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, has concluded his electoral meeting in the Korça district, from where he asked for citizens' votes for the May 11 elections, but also issued accusations against Prime Minister Edi Rama.
Berisha said that the current government, the only thing it has done for Korca is the "Korca-Ersekë" road axis, but even that was half-built according to the chief democrat, and it collapses every month.
He continued by saying that economic problems have hit this region, leading to bankruptcies.
"Every wise Korçar and Korçar woman who closes her eyes and thinks about these 12 years will find that Korça, from a place of hope, from a wonderful city, famous for its gifts, for culture, for patriotism, for the working spirit, the creative spirit, for cleanliness, for everything. The farmers of Korça, men and women among the most efficient, among the most capable. Likewise, those of Devoll, Pogradec, Erseka. In 12 years, they left Korça, from Erseka, Pogradec, Devoll, perhaps like never before in their history. They left, not because they did not want Korça, Pogradec, Devoll or Erseka. On the contrary, with the great wealth of this region, with amazing, fantastic lakes, not only for the Balkans, Europe. With its farmers among the most capable that can exist. With its distinguished intellectuals. With artists, with singers, with writers, With its elite, Korça is nothing but a city to admire.
Yes, they left because, year after year, the economic decline became greater. Because, year after year, prices increased, because, year after year, jobs were closed, because there was no longer enough food for the number of family members. There was no longer anything to share. Because, the products were left in the fields, because, the sick no longer had medicine to treat them. Health centers were destroyed.
"What happened in Korça 12 years ago for the citizens? Think about it. In 12 years, half of the Korça-Ersekë road has been built, and it collapses every month. What happened in Korça? The Qafë Plloçë-Qukës road has been there for 12 years and is nowhere to be seen. What happened in Korça? Schools were closed one after another, the number of students dropped dramatically, companies went bankrupt and farms went bankrupt ," Berisha said.
