Former Prime Minister Sali Berisha has criticized the government for its lack of attention to problems in the healthcare system, emphasizing that hundreds of women have lost their lives due to malfunctioning breast cancer equipment.
Berisha said that while the media is filled with headlines about special events, such as the case of singer Parashqevi Simaku, the deaths of these women have not received any attention.
" A case happened and for a week there have been hundreds of thousands of headlines, Eureka-Eureka-Eureka, about a person who was a prominent singer, but an unfortunate person. Meanwhile, 600 of her sisters were sent to that world because the equipment did not work to treat breast cancer. They were left without treatment. Have you seen headlines about these? It's a dictatorship!", said Berisha.
He compared the situation to the novels of Gabriel Garcia Marquez, describing the government as a "dictatorship of gangs and oligarchs" that ignores citizens' problems and limits media freedom.
According to him, only a small group of analysts and journalists have the courage to speak out on these issues.
" Analysts, journalists, publicists, intellectuals, if you listen to them, they are a very small group who talk about dictatorship. If you follow them, there are 3-4, maybe ten, who talk about electoral farce, because they all talk about elections ," said the Leader of the DP.
