Former Prime Minister Sali Berisha said in a press conference this Wednesday that Edi Rama's agreement with Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni for immigrants is against the Constitution. He emphasized that it prepares in secret and this makes it harmful and unacceptable.
"For Albania, Italy is the main partner of bilateral cooperation and the most intensive exchanges in all fields. Albania has an agreement with Italy signed years ago, based on which Italy returns to Albania every refugee from third countries that passes from Albania to Italy. For PD, yesterday's surprise agreement signed in Rome by Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and Prime Minister Edi Rama after a secret preparation is harmful, unacceptable for the following reasons. The agreement incites in Albania a very harmful wave of xenophobia and this severely damages the morals and the virtue of hospitality of the Albanian nation. The agreement that Edi Rama signed yesterday is in open contradiction with the Constitution of Albania and the European Convention of Human Rights, the decisions of the International Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg", said Berisha.
The chief democrat said that "Edi Rama's regime" cannot guarantee the minimum respect for the rights of refugees.
"The PD declares that the narco-regime of Edi Rama cannot guarantee the minimum respect for the rights of refugees. Evidence of this is the inhuman mistreatment resulting in the death of Iranian refugees in the Manza camp a few months ago by the Albanian police," said Berisha.
According to him, refugee camps risk criminal human trafficking.
"Albania under Rama's narco-regime is today the country with the highest trafficking potential in Europe. Its territory is widely controlled by national and international drug trafficking criminal groups connected as evidenced by the decoding of encrypted conversations and messages at the highest level of power Edi Ramën, Taulant Ballën and other government officials and officials. The establishment of refugee camps on the territory of Albania risks amplifying in a catastrophic way the criminal human trafficking, the slave trade, which is already problematic for our country", said Berisha.
The former prime minister also commented on the appearance of former President Ilir Meta today at SPAK. Berisha emphasized that in the meeting he had with him a few days ago, they did not talk about what he calls "shameful political processes", but about the opposition action.
"Not a word has been spoken about this matter, it has been spoken so that you know only about the opposition action. We have no doubts that these are shameful political processes", stressed Berisha.
