Prime Minister Edi Rama spoke today at the Extended Socialist Assembly in Durrës, where, among other things, he said that Albania is a safer country and that, year after year, we have a decrease in murders.
Rama also stopped at the Justice Reform, where he said that the myth of impunity has fallen and the day when you see a minister in prison has come.
For the head of the government, seeing people he worked with go to prison is not easy, nor is it a satisfying feeling, but he adds that it is the right thing.
"Albania is the country of the lowest house theft in all of Europe. This year we have a drastic decrease in murder cases and the thing you hear from tourists coming to Albania is safety. Security will become an expensive commodity. This is an important moment for us. Of course there is better, but we have entered another phase. The fight for Justice Reform will take us where we need to be, significant signs have already begun to be seen. In Albania, the myth of impunity has fallen, when some time ago it seemed impossible.
The day when you see a minister in prison has come. He came, not to run away, but to be a part of social life where whoever goes out of the way of God and the law must face the law. Whoever takes people's trust and support and then by force gives them tasks, seeks to gain illegally, will face the law. And when we said, we want a justice that hits left and right, many people said that it is propaganda, but the facts have shown the opposite.
It is not easy and satisfying when you see people with whom you have shared your path, suddenly show another face after they are involved in work that is not common work. But on the other hand, it is the right thing", said Prime Minister Rama, among other things.
