The head of the SP parliamentary group, Taulant Balla, has reacted after the DP's announcement to boycott tomorrow's plenary session in the Albanian Parliament.
Balla stressed that the opposition's boycott is unfounded, adding that the session on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, was proposed on February 18, 2026 at the Conference of Speakers and approved by decision of the Plenary Session a month ago.
He described as untrue the claims that the session was called in violation of the Assembly's regulations.
"Regret for the announcement that the Parliamentary Group of the Democratic Party will boycott tomorrow's session of the Albanian Parliament, under the pretext that in this session a draft resolution has been proposed by us for "On the declaration of the Islamic Republic of Iran as a State Sponsor of Terrorism and a State that uses terrorist means".
According to them, the immediate need for Albania to stand with the US against Iran's terrorist actions is a personal agenda. Do you seriously think this, or should we understand it as a slip of the tongue?! Tonight I can tell you that we will provide explanations as to why this Resolution is urgent tomorrow at the Conference of Presidents and we hope that you still have time to reflect until tomorrow. It has also been said that the session was called in violation of the Rules of Procedure. Lie!
"The session tomorrow, on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, was proposed at the Conference of Presidents on February 18, 2026 and approved by decision of the Plenary Session, i.e. a month ago (refer to the minutes of the Meeting of the Conference of Presidents, which are public). Whoever ordered you to boycott the session tomorrow, did not wish you and Albania well," he writes.
