The head of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, has considered the way of arresting former President Ilir Meta to be an inhumane public torture.
Immediately after MP Asllan Dogjani spoke about the accusations against him and declared that it is intended to smear PD, Berisha called the process political. He said that the case of Ervin Salianj and Ilir Meta will be sent to The Hague.
Berisha emphasized that "it was a public torture, it was an inhuman public mistreatment".
"There is no doubt that it is a completely political process. But now it has become universally known that this institution and justice is a political weapon in the hands of the dictatorship.
Such is your case, such and very serious is the case against Ervin Salianji, a case which we will present in all international instances because he is there only because he dared to denounce the mafia, to carry out his duty, his mission as a deputy.
Such is the case of the chairman of the Freedom Party. We have to prepare the file for the Hague because it is inhumane public torture.
We will work with the Freedom Party to send the file to the Anti-Torture Commission at the Council of Europe and follow all instances at the UN and everywhere.
Because there are anti-torture commissions and it was a public torture, it was a public inhuman mistreatment.
Therefore with the best jurists, that case will be presented in all instances as a case of the exercise in revenge of public torture.
An unprecedented case" , said Berisha.
