The chairman of the Democratic Party, Lulzim Basha, was asked about the arrest of former prime minister Sali Berisha.

In a conference with journalists, Basha said that he has two answers to the question of his reaction to Berisha's arrest.

Basha said that he feels "great regret" on a personal level, as Berisha is someone he has collaborated with for a long time. While on a personal level, Basha suggested that Berisha and every other politician should face justice, while the opposition and DP should "move forward".

Basha: I have two reactions, one on a personal level, the other on a political level. On a personal level, I am not happy that a man with whom I have cooperated for a long time and who has given his contributions, has ended here. I told him what I had, but in the end everyone makes their own choice. His behavior is a cost he has given to his family, but also to the opposition and the country. On a personal level, I have nothing but great regret.

On the political level, let's move forward. In any case, DP's position is that justice must do its work without limits, and everyone, including me, so I brought to the parliament the initiative for everyone to be equal before the law. It took 2 weeks to remove Ahmetaj's immunity, enough time to escape.
