The German ambassador to Albania has started a tour of meetings with the political leaders of the government and the opposition in the country, where he recently met with Lulzim Basha.

The meeting comes just two days after Basha lost the seal of the Democratic Party in court, which has already passed to Sali Berisha.

"Ambassador Bergner stressed the great importance of a democratic opposition for the development of the country", it is said, among other things, in the announcement of the German embassy.

German Ambassador Karl Bergner met Mr. Lulzim Basha in the context of his talks with the political leaders of the government and the opposition.

The focus was on the exchange of internal political developments, the continuation of Albania's reform course on the way to the EU and the bilateral relations between Germany and Albania.

Ambassador Bergner emphasized the great importance of a democratic opposition for the development of the country. For this purpose, peaceful and constructive participation in parliamentary processes is as important as respecting the rights of minorities and the separation of powers by all parties. The further strengthening of the rule of law and the fight against corruption, especially through the SPAK Special Prosecutor's Office, are essential not only for EU membership, but also for a better future for young Albanians.
