Responsible young man Elton Veresija

TIRANA/LESKOVIK - Patronageist has decided to address a social issue in this edition, specifically the story of 29-year-old Elton Veresija, graduate of the private university "Siberian University of Tirana", UST. In conversation with the responsible young man who should have graduated from high school at least 7 years ago, he says that now that he has put his university degree in his pocket, he is supposed to put his mind to sleep and focus only on finding a job and direction in life.

But in the Albanian reality, things are not so simple. And Elton Veresija understands this. His problem is that apparently, the 29-year-old newly graduated is the only sober and responsible individual in his family. In short, Elton complains that his parents have given up.

"My elders, Katran and Borxhlije Veresija, spend endlessly. Specifically, a good part of the two pensions and some of the income they have saved over the years, go to pay the installments of the 20,000 euro loan they took for my education. God knows if they manage to repay the loan until they reach their 70s" , the boy reacts with empathy.

He claims that the parents should have been more frugal while they were in employment.

"If they had set aside enough income, there would be no need to take out a loan for my education. But here they have shown their hand, "says the young man.

As a man of norms and principles, among the rare ones of his generation, Elton is aware of the low pensions that his parents receive.

"Even though the older brother Myfiti sends them some money from Kosturi, Greece, where he works as a shepherd, the account still doesn't come out", says Eltoni, adding worriedly, " God, they have entered into an adventure that I don't know where I am going out".

The boy returns to his school years, when his simple-minded parents decide to take out a loan for the education of the young son. Overcoming the pain of having to pay the installments, Katrani and Borxhlija were happy with Elton's 7.2 average, in the university that does not give any grade below 6.

But the adventures of the spendthrift parents reached the point where, to encourage the boy to move forward, they sold a plot of land in the village of origin somewhere near Leskovik and bought him a charming car.

"Do you understand how irresponsible they have been? ", Eltoni reflects today, "they also had money for a car. They even spent on clothes, shoes, a new cell phone, laptop and I don't know what. They remembered that the river would always bring truncheons. They forgot that life is long and there are surprises".

And really. The happy school years ended quickly.

"Today they must understand that the reality is wild. No more exams, coffee parties with friends. They must gather their wits and find me a good job with a good salary, otherwise we have nothing to do," says the exemplary boy.

Veresija adds: " I have parents and I cannot reject them." But as they are hollowed out, I fear they will not withstand them through the waves of life. Will my parents manage to pay all the debts on time? I don't know, I'm worried."
