A question about the watch he chose to wear gave Mark Zuckerberg the opportunity to talk about one of the rarest names in modern watchmaking. During a Meta event, the company founder was asked about the watch model and revealed that it was a creation of Kosovo-born watchmaker Rexhep Rexhepi.

It is the Chronomètre Contemporain I, one of the models that has helped consolidate Rexhepi's reputation among collectors of high-end watches.

"It's a creation of Rexhepi. It's fantastic!" Zuckerberg said, pointing to the watch he had chosen.

Beyond its design and craftsmanship, the model also has a special history in terms of market value. The Chronomètre Contemporain I was initially offered at a price of around $55-60 thousand, while years later a copy of this model was sold at auction for around $1.26 million.

Zuckerberg's watch features an 18-karat rose gold case and a black dial crafted with enamel using the traditional "grand feu" technique. This method requires firing the enamel at very high temperatures and is used to create the dial's characteristic surface.

Another factor that affects the value of Rexhepi's watches is the extremely limited production. His Geneva workshop only produces about 40 to 50 watches per year, and a significant portion of the work is done by hand.

Rexhep Rexhepi was born in Kosovo and moved with his family to Geneva at the age of 11. Just four years later, he began his apprenticeship at Patek Philippe, entering the world of Swiss watchmaking at a very young age.

At the age of 25, Rexhepi took the step to build his own brand and founded Akrivia. Over the years, this brand has become one of the well-known names in independent watch repair.

His creations are in high demand in the collector's market today. One of Rexhepi's watches has reached an auction value of $2.3 million, while his Chronomètre Contemporain I has passed the $1.26 million mark.

However, Rexhepi has chosen not to increase production to meet market demand. He has also announced that he has rejected offers of $800,000 and $1 million for discontinued models, refusing to bring them back into production.
